Dear Marlins,
This year at the banquet we are planning on handing out
treat bags to all of the swimmers upon departure from the

individualized treat bag safe for your child to take home.
If you could let the banquet committee know by July 10th
that would be wonderful. Please email

Rescheduled Meet
Dear
Marlins,
The meet vs the Freehold Y originally
scheduled for today is going to be THURSDAY, JUNE 25th.
I received a message from the President of the League (parent
rep of the Y) that according to our league constitution a rain
out of a Wed meet must be held on the Thursday following.
This puts Lisa Bisogni and our coaches under the gun. It is
very important that if you were scheduled to work the meet
that you time for us tomorrow. If you are scheduled to work,
please reply to this email by 11am tomorrow and let me know if
you will be able to help out tomorrow.
For
swimmers:
I know there
were a lot of people missing because of Graduation tonight. If
you can now make it, please reply to this email by 11am tomorrow
morning. On the flip side, if you were able to come tonight but
cannot come tomorrow, please reply to this email by 11am
tomorrow.
I know
this is last minute, but I hope we can all work together and
make it a great meet for all of the kids.
Arrival time
remains the same at 4:45 with a start time of 5:30pm.
Thanks for
your understanding and cooperation.

First Meet
Dear Marlins,
I would like to thank
all of the parents who volunteered today at time trials. I am
relieved the rain held off and we were able to proceed as
planned.
APPAREL:
We had our apparel out
for the first time this season. We are
going to sell the apparel again this Friday during practice and
the Pasta Party. If you did not get a chance to "shop"
today, please stop by on Friday. Please bring cash or a check.
MEET VS THE
FREEHOLD Y:
Let's first hope for
sun on Wednesday. Our first meet of the season is this Wednesday
at the Freehold Y on East Freehold Road. There are directions on
the website www.marlboromarlins.net.
Please arrive at the meet at 4:45pm and the meet starts at
5:30pm. When your child arrives, please have them check in with
Coach Kristin ASAP. If you are scheduled to volunteer at the
meet, please let Lisa Bisogni know you are there ASAP. There
will be a corkboard displayed with the swimmers events, heats
and lanes. Please have your child write this info on their
hands. If you are new to the team, please ask someone to show
you how to write it.
Please bring several
towels, sweatshirts and a change of clothes. Also, parents
bring beach chairs. You can bring in refreshments or purchase
them at the concession stand.
It is a Wednesday meet
so all 8/unders will swim 25 yards of back and free. The
corkboard will indicate whether your swimmer will participate
in a relay.
All girls 9/older will
swim butterfly and breastroke and all boys 9/older will swim
freestyle and backstroke.
The Marlins Swim Team
promotes good sportsmanship during the entire season. This
includes practices, team activities, and especially team meets.
We swim as a team. Please discuss with your swimmers the
importance of listening to their coaches, being mindful of their
events, cheering on their teammates, swimming as a team player
during the relays and overall good sportsmanship. Please stay
until the end of the meet for the team cheer and the reading of
the score.
We will be given an
area to sit as a team at the Y. Please make sure the area
is clean before leaving .
My older daughter Jane
is graduating from Middle School on Wed, so we will not be at
this meet. If there are any problems, two board members will be
there (Lisa Bisogni and Rosa Principe.)
I wish you all a fun
and fabulous meet......GO MARLINS!!!!

Annual DVD
Dear
Marlins,
As the
season gets under way, we need to look ahead to our annual year
end DVD. This DVD is shown at the banquet. Please take pictures
throughout the season and put them on a disc. All discs can
be put in my mailbox "Posner" throughout the season. If anyone
would like to put our disc together for the end of the season,
please reply to this email. This would be a great opportunity
for a swimmer to get community service hours for their
time making the DVD.
Thanks

Time Trials Postponed
Dear
Marlins,
Rain, rain
go away......For obvious reasons, time trials are cancelled for
today. Originally, tomorrow was the rain date. Unfortunately,
the weather forecast for the next few days is rain off and on.
I will keep you posted about regular practice tomorrow. Looking
ahead to the forecast for Monday it is dry and sunny in the
80's.
We will have time trials at 4:15pm on
Monday and we will also have apparel on sale that afternoon also.
Please have the kids wear their team suits. Some 8 /unders were
time trialed yesterday. I will contact you individually later
today. Those children do not need to swim on Monday. If they
have siblings on the team, the pool club is open on a daily
basis that day so they can play and have fun in the other
pools.
Below are a
list of parents who have volunteered to work at time trials
today, please reply to this email if you are still available on
Monday. I will forward all reply's to Lisa Bisogni.

Volunteer needed to Chair Ice Cream Party
Dear Marlins,
I
am going through the volunteer sheets and you have all signed up to
help at the Ice Cream party on July 13th. I need someone to chair
this party. The responsibilities would be to purchase ice cream and
toppings. You will be completely reimbursed with a receipt. The
team will purchase the paper goods. You will also be responsible to
email the volunteers about their time slot . There should be 2
shifts. I will send you the list of people.
Thank
you

Swim Officials
Needed
Dear Marlins,
As
the first meet approaches and our roster is growing, our team finds
ourselves without any officials. All of our officials from last
year are not returning to the team this year. This is a problem for
us. We need to have officials. I have brought this to the attention
of the league. Peg Kauth, Head Official for Freehold Y, has
generously offered to have a summer official training class on
Friday, June 12th from 6-8pm at the Freehold Y. This class is free
of charge.
It
is imperative that we have several parents from our team attend this
class. It is a great opportunity to learn more about the sport your
child is involved with. Being an official will meet your
volunteering requirements. You will not be thrown to the wolves at
the meets. You will be able to shadow an existing official until you
are comfortable enough doing it solo. There will always be more than
one official on deck at all times.
If
you would be able to attend this one time 2 hour class, please reply
to this email ASAP. I need to give the Y names by Thursday am. We
absolutely need to have officials for the season.
Thank
you

Swim Team Dues
Dear Marlins,
If you have not already paid your swim team dues, please do so at
your earliest convenience. Until then, your child is not on the
roster or allowed to practice until the office has your
payment. Also, if you are not swimming this year, please let me know
so I can remove you from the email list.
Thank you

Tryouts
Dear
Marlins,
I wanted to let you know that we had a great turn out for try outs this afternoon despite the weather. We had a lot of brave swimmers jump into very cold water today. We had about 30 -35 new swimmers try out. If you were unable to make try outs today, please come to the pool club on Monday at 4pm. Please ask for Head Coach Kristin upon arrival
Thanks,
Susan

We have our Banquet Committee!! & Video Volunteers Needed
Dear Marlins,
I am very happy to announce that we have a Banquet Committee. I am very thankful for these ladies who have volunteered to plan our Annual Year End Celebration. Our committee members are Camille Reinhold, Ruth Mirza, Myriam Kuba, Rosa Principe, and Michelle Teitelbaum. I know they will do a great job! Please mark your calendars for Thursday, July 30th at PNC Reception Center. If anyone else would like to help out, please let me know.
We also do a DVD chronicling the season. This
is always shown at the Banquet. If one of our swimmers 13 years or
older would like to do the video, they can keep a running log of
time spent on the video. These hours can be used for Community
Service hours. It is a great opportunity to earn hours during the
summmer. Or, if a parent would like to do the video, that would also
be appreciated. You will need to take pictures during the season and
use the pictures that fellow swimmers and parents take for the
video. They will give you the photos on a disc to be used towards
the final DVD. The final DVD should be accompanied by music. The
video should be about 15 minutes long. We have the projector to show
the video. If anyone would like to do this year, please let me
know.
Thanks

Swim
team payment deadline extended
Dear Marlins,
The
Swim Club Office wanted me to pass on that the deadline for swim team payments
is now extended to Thursday, May 7th.
Also,
the swim club needs families to fill out sponsorship forms for those families
who do not live in Marlboro and would like to join our club. If interested,
please fill out the attached sponsorship form and mail back to the swim club
office.

Open
Parent Board positions
Dear
Marlins,
I hope
you all have a Happy Easter and/or Passover. Today you should have received
the swim team paperwork. Please complete all of the forms. It is important to
fill out the volunteer form, application and picture order form. Our team relies
on all of our families volunteering throughout the summer. Please take note of
the change in payment. You must write out 2 checks. It is explained very clearly
in the packet.
As our
season is approaching, I would like to share with you the changes in our Parent
Board positions. I would like to welcome Rosa Principe to our Board. Rosa will
be our team Secretary.
We have
2 open positions for the upcoming season. We need a Vice President and a
Banquet Chair(s). These positions must be filled this year.
There
are also 2 positions that will be open for next year(2010). According to the
guidelines of the Parent Board you cannot serve a particular position for more
than 3 consecutive years and you can only serve on the Board for 6 years. That
is the point where I will be after this season ends. I have enjoyed my 3 years
as President of the Board and I am looking forward to a wonderful 2009. I will
be stepping down from the Board at the end of this season. It is imperative
that someone take over this position. I strongly urge someone to step up and
volunteer and shadow me this summer. It will be much easier for the new
incoming President to work along side me this summer.
The
other position open for next summer(2010) is Treasurer. Jeff Warantz has been
our faithful Treasurer for 3 seasons and he will be stepping down at the end of
the summer. If anyone is interested in this position for next summer, please
let me know. Jeff can show you the ropes this summer.
I urge
everyone to consider volunteering for a position on the Parent Board. The Board
is an essential and integral part of the Marlboro Marlins Swim Team. If anyone
is interested in any of the above positions, please contact me as soon as
possible.
Swimcerely,
Susan

Sponsorship forms
Dear
Marlins,
I
stopped by the pool club office today to inquire about the sponsorship program
for families who used to be members at Strathmore. These families will need to
be sponsored again this year. For all of our Strathmore families, please go on
to the website below and fill out the pool club paperwork and return it to the
office. Please fill out your portion of the sponsorship form. For all of our
Marlboro resident families, please consider filling out a sponsorship form from
the website and drop off or mail to the pool club office. We want to make sure
all of our returning families are sponsored to return to our team.
Thanks
for your consideration and support
